Manly beach is among the most exquisite beaches in the city of Sydney. The beach is every bit as beautiful as the more famous beaches such as Surfer’s paradise and Bondi Beach, but if you compare these in terms of fame, you will find that Many is a lot lesser known with foreign tourists, and is often neglected.

But this is a definite advantage, as you will enjoy the pristine sands and crystal clear waters of the beach without having to deal with crowds and noise. Comparatively peaceful when compared to Bondi, Manly beach is home to a good number of facilities as well.

Sydneysiders know that there is no better place than Manly Beach, whether you are a surfer or not. There are three main portions into which the beach is divided into, South Steyne, North Steyne and Queenscliff. The Fairy Bower and the Shelley Beach is situated close to Manly Beach. There is a walk way that goes along the sea.

If you happen to crazy about surfing, Fairy Bower is an obvious destination. The waves here are huge. The large right hand waves break right over the reef, providing a magnificent surfing experience. The beach is situated close to the Sydney Harbour National Park.

Shelley Beach is a top scuba divers favorite. The beach is incredibly popular with scuba divers, and the inland facing beach is one of the most unique in the entire eastern Australian coast.

Tonga is a group of islands that lie in the South Pacific Ocean, and is officially the Kingdom of Tonga. Tonga is also referred to as ‘the Friendly islands’ because Captain James Cook was accorded a friendly reception when he came here first in 1773. It is argued by William Mariner, writer that in actuality the tribesmen wanted to kill off Captain Cook, but could not decide on a plan. Tonga is also the only island nation that was not colonized formally, and the island is also the only sovereign monarchy among islands in the South Pacific.

Kingdom of Tonga has preserved the past in a pristine form, numerous ancient traditions and customs are followed here. There are many examples of this, chief being the closing down of all activities during Sundays, so as to observe the Sabbath. Tonga’s architecture is worthwhile. The culture has stayed free of major influences, although changing times have changed things. The customs and traditions of the Tongan people provide us fascinating insights into the culture and lifestyle of the people.

Kingdom of Tonga is an unsullied paradise in the truest sense. The veritable abundance of natural beauty here is of such a level as to make the beholder gasp for breath in amazement. There are so many beautiful aspects to Tonga. The beautiful beaches are one, as are the rainforests, and the volcanoes. There are numerous natural wonders here. The beaches here are pristine stretches of pure snow white sand ( and just as soft ), and the crystal clear blue waters have an aquamarine tint to them, incredibly beautiful. There is no dearth to beautiful spots here. There are a good number of accommodations on the beaches that have sprung up with the advent of Tonga tourism.

Commercialization has not touched Tonga tourism industry in a very big way, and the island is actually a pricey destination, which has served to keep the tourist numbers down. Tonga island is extremely popular with honey mooning couples, or couples on a holiday together, as the island has a palpable sense of romance in its air. The exotic charms of this island are such that they will keep you magnetized. Tonga is the perfect destination to head to if you want some downtime from the madding crowds, some rest from the rat race, the island is the ideal location for all this and more. It is certain that you will return refreshed and rejuvenated, and vowing to come back as soon as possible.

This island nation is officially known as the Republic of Kiribati. It is situated in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

About the Island Nation:

The Republic of Kiribati is made up of thirty two atolls and a raised island made up of corals. An atoll is a beautiful island made up of coral that encircles a lagoon. The coral island might completely or partly enclose the lagoon. These serene islands are spread out over 3.5 million square kilometers over the Pacific Ocean. They extend over to the equator and touch the International Date Line in the east.

The main chain of Gilbert Islands provides the island nation of Kiribati its name. ‘Gilberts’ in the local language means Kiribati. This proud island is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Kiribati gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1979. It is also a member of the United Nations (since 1999), IMF and the World Bank.

Geography and composition of the Island:

The Republic of Kiribati is divided into three island groups which are dispersed far and wide. They are the Gilbert, Phoenix and Line islands. Kanton is the island which is sparsely populated; it belongs to the phoenix group of islands which is uninhabited. The Phoenix Islands is the third largest marine protected area in the world.

Banaba is the raised coral island of Kiribati. It is an isolated island which lies between the Gilbert Islands and Nauru. Previously known as the Pleasant Island, Nauru is the smallest island nation that belongs to Micronesia in the South Pacific.

Gilbert Islands are a group of 16 atolls (coral island surrounding a lagoon). This chain lies to the north of Fiji. Phoenix island chain contains a total of 8 atolls and some coral islands. The Phoenix group lies to the southeast of the Gilbert Islands. Line Islands have one reef and 8 atolls to their claim. These islands lie to the east of Gilbert Islands.

Kirimati Island belongs to the Line chain of Islands. It is also known as Christmas Island and is the world’s largest atoll. Tebua Tarawa and Abanuea were Kiribati islets which in 1999 disappeared under the water because of rising ocean levels due to global warming. Rising Ocean levels are causing increased soil salinity (salt content) which affects the growth of plants on the islands. The coconuts trees on the Tepuka Savilivili islet have all died.

Culture: Music and native dance

Body percussion, chanting and other types of vocalizing form the Kiribati folk music. Modern Kiribati music involves a seated chorus accompanied by the guitar. These are for public performances. Te Kalimatoa is the standing dance and Te Buki is the hip dance wherein a wooden box is used as a percussion instrument. Love themed traditional dances, religious, patriotic, war, wedding, competitive, children’s dances are popular. Major festivals have stick dances which tell stories of legend and history.

The outstretched arms of the dancers and the birdlike motion of the head are characteristics of the Pacific Island dance. Even the Frigate minor bird on the flag of the island nation symbolizes the bird like dance. It is a form of storytelling and display of beauty, skill and endurance of the dancer. Smiling during the dance is hence considered vulgar.

Guam is known for its beautiful scenery and because of its tropical location; the climate is favorable all year around. Then what’s so unusual of the island that will catch your attraction? Well this land has a long war scarred history of the world which most of the people still remember and wish it would had never happened. Yes, it has some tanks, war machines used during World War II.
The whole island measures approximately five hundred and forty nine square kilometers and it is encircled by the coral reefs. As the island is volcanic origin, it is full of mountains and hills with lush vegetation which descends towards untouched beautiful glittering clear sea water surrounding island in all direction.

Before Japanese’s invasion, Guam has long history of Spanish ruling the island for three hundred and thirty three years. Hagatna, capital of Guam, has many historic building which were made in this era. You will also find remnant of Chamorro period whose culture is still being followed by the people of Guam but it with time much of the things have changed.

Well scuba diving is done among tourists here as it is beside deepest ocean trench, around the island you will get see very different marine animals and treat to eyes is already surrounding the island – corals and reefs! But the best spot for scuba diving is Tumon bay which is ahead of Hagatna coast. It is also one of the favorite tourist destinations. Towards south, their great places to go hiking on the mountains and to the north are many fantastic cliffs.

Nano Fall Botanical Gardens is situated in Agat where one day picnic should be done. The place is just not botanical garden but there you can do swimming in flowing Nano River. There are other two botanical garden too, namely – Inarajan Shore Botanical Garden to south coast of the island and Pineapple Plantation in Yigo.

The soldiers and people who died in World War II are still being remembered. In Yigo for remembrance they have build South Pacific Memorial Park and another site where war was carried on is turned into Pacific National Historical Park which has weapons; tanks, machine tanks etc, they still haven’t moved another place. There is museum too with war photos and remnants of war and one section is kept for the Chamorro culture.

There are many exotic beach parks in Guam you can visit are Latte Park which is situated just below Kasamata Hill; Merizo Pier Park it’s a resort surrounded by the Lagoon and also official place for Merizo water festival. For the waves lover there is place called Talofofo Bay which is called surfers paradise and another place is the ancient settlement of Chamorro which was later turned into penal and leper colony. Now its Guam’s most admired recreational place.

Exploring the beaches and ocean will bring you many surprises! The most liked diving spot are the wrecks of the World War II. The reefs and marines flora and fauna have built their home on it, enhancing the beauty of the depressing wrecks. There are even night diving organized by the resorts so check it out. As in the night, most of the corals which hide in day light come out in night falls its darkness. Go to islands shallow bays where dolphin inhabits.

Airport:

Antonio B Won Pat International Guam Airport is the major airport in Guam country. It is just seven miles away from the city.

By Sea:

Apra Harbor is the main port in Guam. This port is the main port because its southernmost island in Mariana islands so mostly it’s the stopover of many cruise ships.

By Car:

Well there aren’t many roads in interior region of the island. And roads which are available are always congested and in rainy it turns slippery.

By Bus:

There aren’t buses on this island but you will find commercial tourist buses but the frequency of the bus is very bad.

Guam is a traveler’s paradise because it is blessed for natural beauty. It promises you a wonderful beach holiday experience and family time. Great place to relax and forget all worries of the world which rest on your shoulder. Just lay back and enjoy here!
