Wells Cathedral

Wells Cathedral is officially referred to as the Cathedral of St Andrew in Wells. The cathedral is part of the Church of England and is the main attraction of the town of Wells in Somerset. Wells Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, who resides at the Bishop’s palace that is located adjoining the cathedral. The cathedral dates back to the 13th century, and is a unique and spectacular monument. It is a marvel of architecture, and has been described as “one of the most poetic cathedrals in England.” The west front of the cathedral is particularly magnificent, with carvings and sculptures of kings and saints. The name Kölner Dom is German for the world famous Cologne Cathedral. It is one of the most notable cathedrals in the whole of Germany, if not the whole world. St Peters Basilica – Excavation of St Peters Tomb

While planning a trip to Rome, there are the usual must sees on the itinerary, such as the Spanish Steps, the Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and of course, the Vatican. But the presence of a necropolis that lies under the Vatican ground is not known to many. This is one of the most rewarding places to visit while you are in Rome. The necropolis, or the archeological burial site is one of the most significant, as it is has the original grave of St Peter, the Apostle. This grave is located below St Peters basilica. The grave of St Peter was discovered by a group of workers in nineteen thirty nine, who were working to dig a grave for the deceased Pope Pius XI under the St Peters Basilica. Sistine Chapel ceiling and Michelangelo

Although the Sistine Chapel is not all about Michelangelo, there is no question that the fresco painted by him on the ten thousand foot ceiling on the chapel in 1508 is certainly what made the Sistine Chapel so famous all over the world. Chateau de Versailles

Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne is located in Switzerland, and is among the most beautiful in the country, if not Europe. The lake is also referred to as the “Lake of the four forest Cantons”, or the Vierwaldstättersee in German. Lake Lucerne is singularly beautiful, with mountains towering on all sides, and forests surrounding it. Cruising the lake is the best way to get to know the magnificent natural beauty here. Rhine Falls, Switzerland

Switzerland’s Rhine falls are the largest falls in the whole of Western Europe, and cascades from a height of twenty five meters, and the wall of water here is as wide as a hundred and fifty meters. The Rhine Falls are actually a group of 3 falls – the Muhle Falls, the Schaffhauser Falls and the Zurcher Falls. The Rhine Falls are located at the River Rhine. The falls are located close to the city area, at the Schaffhausen urban area, and are a famous tourist attraction in Europe. Lake Iseo

Lake Iseo is also referred to as Lake Sebina, and is one of the most beautiful locations in entire Italy. The lake is not very well known outside Italy, and not many tourists come here. This is a definite advantage as the area is far from being a crowded touristy location. Lake Iseo is fourth largest among lakes in Lombardy.
