The numerous nicknames that the city has, like “Motown, Motor City, Auto town” symbolize all that has made Detroit what it is, the thriving auto industry that has provided jobs to the residents, and development to the city. <p>Detroit is far from a squalid industrial city, and the city has its assortment of culture, art and music hotspots. The nightlife scene is also vibrant and dynamic. Detroit’s heritage of music is well known, and innumerous musicians have associations with this city. A large collection of music genres, including jazz, rap and hip hop, techno, rock and roll, metal, gospel and many more have been celebrated in this city and it is a major event for <strong>Detroit Tourism</strong>. The legendary Motown has its birthplace in Detroit, and a selection of artists like Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes have made records here. Eminem, the famous and best selling rapper is also from Detroit. Techno Music has its origins from Detroit. Many rock and metal bands also have links with Detroit. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has over 14 artists who have connections with this city, and this is inclusive of Bob Seger, Bill Haley and Patti Smith.</p>
