Discover The Fauna Of Central African Republic



It is a landlocked country surrounded with many countries in Central Africa. Sudano- Guinea savannas covers most of the regions of Central African Republic. On the north side it is also covered with Sahelo- Sudanian zone. In the south it is covered with equatorial forest zone. The two third parts of this country lies on the basins of Ubangi River and flows towards the south into the Congo River. The remaining area of Central African Republic lies on the basins of Chari River which flows towards the north into Lake Chad. Most of the Central African Republic is located in the basins of Chari and Ubangi river basins. Ubangi- Chari is the French colony which is a semi independent territory of the French community.

Central african republic

In the year 1960 it became an independent nation. Most of the presidents of CAR were not selected through democratic elections but they were chosen by force. The discontent was started by the international pressure which followed by the end of Cold War. In the year 1993 the first multi-party elections were held with the help from UN Office for Electoral Affairs. Ange-Felix Patasse came into power but not for much time and was thrown out by Francois Bozize in the year 2003. Boziz won the democratic elections in May 2005. The year 2007 faced strikes because of no payment to government workers which forced the government to resign in 2008. Faustin- Archange Touadera became the new prime minister on 22nd January, 2008. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. The capital of Central African Region is Bangui near Ubangi River it is the most important river in the country it is the biggest trading port. It was founded by French in the year 1880 and further constructed as city with central market and shaded avenues the area is known as old town.

Dzanga- Sangha National Park

Dzanga- Sangha National ParkThe national park is located in the triangle of Cameroon from Congo and southwestern Central African Republic and attracts tourists. On the banks of Sangha River Bayanga is the main village near the park. Elephants, Gorillas, giraffes, leopards, lions etc. are found here makes this place an amazing one with magnificent flora and fauna. It is rich in diverse in nature with waterfalls, deserts, mountains, etc. The Baka people live in this area, their culture and traditions can be seen in their music and dance. This is only national park at this place where you will get the experience to see the wild Africa with adventurous activities like hiking and trekking.

How to reach there

You need to check all the requirements before reaching there as if you are planning to go by road route, checking is necessary before entering and existing from this country, as there are limitations on the opening and closing of the borders. The borders of nearby Cameroon and Congo are closed while the borders of Sudan and Chad are no go zones. The most well known point to reach CAR is from Cameroon from the east of Garoua-Boulari town. There are regular buses from Bangui to Garoua- Boulai while the trains go from Yaounde. There are weekly flights from Paris to Bangui, Sudan Airways; Air France etc are connected with Cameroon, Benin, Gabon, and Nigeria.

Where to stay

There are two hotels and one lodge in Bangui and both are three star hotels. Hotel Bangui and Hotel du Centre are the hotels with basic and same facilities. Currency exchange, gift shop, internet, television, air conditioning etc are available. It also has a business center and offers conference facilities. The Doli lodge is far away remotely located on the banks of Sangha River; there are five bungalows in this lodge. There are suites in these bungalows; these are only three accommodations in CAR.
