Go to the Brownsberg Nature Park and get enveloped in the lovely expanse of the greenery here. Lying near Paramaribo, this area spanning around 8400 hectares is an ideal tourist haven and has been existing since the year 1969. This is a great place with the best of Nature Reserves and is the haven for many varieties of animals and plants. The rainforest here is neotropic and commercially famous species too. With the hydrotrophic, mesohpytic vegetation, found here the park here is great with the lovely vegetation and the slopes, and the varieties of trees, completely making the place look lovely and beautiful.

The Galibi Nature Reserve is situated on the north eastern corner of Suriname and lies at the mouth of the River Marowijne. This is also on the border of the French Guyana. Around 4000 hectares of area, this is a great place where the Oliver Ridley turtle is found. Existing since the year 1969, this place was built to protect the turtle beaches. This is incidentally the only beach where there are collections of Oliver Ridley in the region of the Atlantic.

There is the current of the Guinea region here and the flow of the River Marowjine with the freshwater quality. The Rivers line the reserve and there are many factors of environment that make the place a paradise.  There is a great biological diversity here which is the main attraction of the reserve.

This Galibi Reserve and the other villages around are arrived only by boat. They lie around an hour and a half from Albina. The locals are permitted to fish in the reserve waters. Sometime between the years 900AD and 1150 AD the canyon of Chaco was a major hub of the Ancient Pueblo Culture. There were many ancient Chacoans who used the resources of the oak, pinon, ponderosa pine and also the juniper and made themselves economically independent.

So this canyon that is found between two flat massifs is a lovely place to be in and has a great history behind it too. The canyon has aquifers which were very deep for the ancient Chacoans and there were many smaller sources of water like the small springs that used to bear them.

The flora and fauna in the Chaco region is mainly the sagebrush and the cactus species. They have dry scrub forests of juniper and pinon also. Then you have the wildlife and plants that have been existent since ancient times.

There is lot of wildlife found in the Chacoan region and thus you can see the deer, mule, pronghorn and the elk. But normally visitors do not come here and disturb the animals. Then you have the bobcats, foxes, badgers, skunks etc. There are small colonies of bats which are seen in the summer season. There is a general shortage of water so the bird species present here are the roadrunners, American kestrels, large hawks, vultures, owls, ravens and also many other species of birds. Then there are the smaller birds like the sparrows, warblers, house finches and the humming birds. The rufous hummingbird is very common here. This is a breeding habitat for the trees and the shrubs and these are found amongst the Western Prairie rattlesnakes.

Visit the monument of King Friedrich II or Prussia which is found at the end of Forum Fiedericianum. This marks the place where the boulevard of Unter Den Linden starts. The monument is a part of present day via Triumphalis and stretches from the arch of victory of Brandenburg Gate to the Castle in Berlin. There have been generations of artists who have laid a lot of monuments on this route. IN the year 1851, the statue of King Friedrich II was erected and today it is one of the best known works of Christian Daniel Rauch. It contributed to a lot to the monuments that were built later.

The Holocaust Memorial which is a monument of the Jewish victims of the Third Reich and  was unveiled in the city of Berlin around 60 years after the events that followed the Second World War. Around 15 yrs passed between the time it started getting constructed and till the time it finally got completed. It is found situated next to the Brandenburg Gate and the bunker of Hitler’s remains. Since then it was the recognized symbol of the Holocaust.

Berliner Ensemble is another famous theatre of Berlin and was started in the year 1949 and was established by Bertold Brecht and his wife Helene Weigel. Initially started as a touring theatre, this was then occupied by Theater am Schiffbauerdamm. From that time there have been many plays by Brecht. Brecht thus was able to prepare many performances with the help of stage designers, directors and many others. When Weigel and Brecht died the theatre then started showing plays of other European playwrights.

Also visit the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin which is the Berlin State Library which has more than 350 years of history and is today the most important library for academic research in this part of Germany. Friedrich Wilhelm I founded this library in 1661, and from then collects a lot of diverse materials. Today it has an impressive collection which is inclusive of around 10 million books, and more than 1 million atlases and maps, with more that 180,000 newspaper volumes, 60,000 manuscripts, and many autographs, personal archives and musical editions.

The Pyramids of Giza is the oldest wonder in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This is the only one to be absolutely intact. There are many who believe that the pyramid was constructed as a tomb for the Egyptian Pharaoh dynasty Khufu. It was initially constructed at a height of around 146.5 metres was the tallest structure that was made by man in the world for around 3,800 years. It was a Great Pyramid that was covered with casing stones and thus formed a very smooth surface. This is today the core structure. There are sights of some of the casing stones which were present here initially. Many theories surround the science and theory of the pyramids of Giza. The most accepted theory is that it was built by transferring huge stones from a quarry and then lifting them into position.

The Great Pyramid has three chambers within. The lowest chamber is cut into a bedrock. This is the structure on top of which the pyramid has been constructed and has also been left unfinished. The Kings Chamber and the Queens Chamber are higher in the structure of the pyramid. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only Egyptian pyramid which has descending and ascending passages. The main part of the pyramid is a collection of buildings and this is inclusive of two mortuary temples in reverence of Khufu. There are three smaller such pyramids for the wives of the Khufu. There is also a satellite pyramid which is a raised causeway which links the two temples. there are small mastaba tombs which surround the pyramid for the nobles.

There are around 2.3 million blocks of limestone and most of them have been transported from quarries. The Tura limestone is used for casing that has been quarried across the river. The pyramid has some of the largest granite stones and these are found in the King’s chamber and these weigh at least 25 to 80 tonnes. These were brought from Aswan and these are more than 500 miles away from the pyramid. The Egyptians earlier used to cut the stone blocks and embedded wooded wedges into the stone. These stones were earlier soaked in water. When the stones absorbed the water, the wedges grew and the rock cracked. Then they were carried by boat up the Nile River to the pyramid. It is said that around 5.5 million tons of such limestone was carted in the process and around 8000 tonnes of granite was imported from Aswan. More than 500,000 tons of mortar was used in building the Great Pyramid.

The Pyramids of Giza are made of the Great Pyramid of Giza which is known as the Great Pyramid and also The Pyramid of Khufu and Cheops. The Pyramid of Khafre is a smaller one and it is also called chephren. These lie a little hundred metres in the south western direction and there is also the Pyramid of Menkaure which is around 100 metres from there.

The Great Sphinx is on the eastern side of this structure. It is said that the Great Sphinx is of Khafre. There are many monuments that are found alongwith the Great pyramids of Giza. These include the causeways, pyramids, valley pyramids and the queen’s pyramids.

The Yamanas aborigines were the primitive inhabitants of this region and they occupied the Lapataia bay area.  Seafood was their main food. Even today we can see circles caused by mollusks indicating that there were settlements here some time back.

One can come to this park via the National Route 3 and there are also daily flights which connect the place to the city of Buenos Aires.

Situated around two miles away from the city of Texas in the United States of America, the Cadillac Ranch is approached easily from the city and is an establishment that took birth in the year 1974. Here Ten Cadillac cars are exposed on the property of Stanly who is a great billionaire here. It is found on the private property of the person and the owner only allows people to admire his collection. The Cadillacs on display here are a total fascination for a car lover and the oldest one goes back to the time of the year 1949. The most recent Cadillac belongs to the year 1963.

The Ant Group Farm was the one which came with this unique idea of launching a Cadillac based ranch and this experimental art and design construction is a great attraction for all tourists coming to this part of the world. Stanley financed the whole project and placed cars in his own locale. There was an initial plan to dig around 10 holes for each car and these holes measuring around 8 feet deep were then put inside the ground. Only half of the Cadillacs were visible and they all looked like domino pieces all lined up.

People have painted and created a lot of graffiti all over the car and it looks very interesting. It is a rule that anyone who comes here can write anything on the car and feel that he is a part of the place. The message does not remain for a long time because there are many people doing the same thing and thus it gets all mixed up.
The owner gets the car painted from time to time in a basic colour for maintaining the car and this is one reason why travellers get inspired to leave colourful messages on the cars.

There is an anniversary day for the Cadillac Ranch and visitors who come here can participate in the Cadillac Party which is a very important event here. This anniversary day which falls on March 3 is one that has a party with free drinks and there is lot of fun on this day.

Originally situated in a wheat field, today the Cadillac Ranch has been relocated to the western side to a cow pasture which is located along the Interstate 40. Then in the year there was another blast and then there was another earthquake in the year 1667 which totally damaged the entire city. Today what we see is the final manner in which the whole structure was built towards the end of the 17th century.

There is a central portico which has beautiful archways and then there is a mezzanine which is on the second story. The rooms are very interesting and they make you relaxed and as you explore the area around the beauty of the structure is manifested in the archways and open ceilings.

Then visit the Pile Gate which is another northern gate in the city. There is a stone bridge with two arches built in the Gothic style. As we move towards the exit, you would reach the Tower Loverjenac. As we enter the outer draw bridge is joined by a bridge on the internal side and this leads to the main city. When you have light, you would be able to get some of the best photos of the Pile Gate. With the majestic Adriatic in the background the sights of the Tower Bokar and the Tower Loverjenac is a lovely experience and is something that you would cherish forever.

Then you have the Big Onofrio’s Fountain and this rounded structure near the Pile Gate is another major attraction in this part of the world. Come here and enjoy this water fountain with 16 sides. This is truly a work of art and the engineering elegance in this structure is what attracts the tourist to see this. Dubrovnik was referred by Lord Byron as the “the Pearl of the Adriatic” and was founded sometime in the 7th century by the Romans. This was protected by the Byzantine Empire sometime between 867 and 1205 and was mainly an independent republic. Dubrovnik had one of the major merchant fleets in the Mediterranean and was the main cultural hub of the South Slavs. During the Second World War the German and the Italian forces occupied Dubrovnik. In the year 1991, when Croatia became independent, then the Serbian forces attacked the town and destroyed many historical sites.

Then you have the third pyramid which is the Pyramid of Menkaure or the Mycerinus. It stands at a height of around 67m or 220 ft high. This is constructed by Menkaure who is Khafre’s son. This is the place where the famous Sphinx is found. It is in front of the Great Pyramid and is seen with the body of a lion and is joined to the head of a man.

The Sphinx is around 60 m or 200 feet long and 20m or 65 ft high. This was carved around 4500 years back out of a single sandstone block. This was left over from the construction of the Great Pyramid.

The Pyramids of Giza are a great place to be in just for the sheer fascination and the excitement that this land provides. They are the oldest forms of architectural forms of the human beings and they have actually helped encourage the status of Egypt as a tour destination. Cabildo

Cabilo is a museum that has been constructed and designed by Andres Blanqui, a Jesuit architect. This was built in the year 1580 and was in fact the first government building in this city. It has undergone a lot of modifications and renovations and is today called the “Museo Historico Nacional Del Cabildo y la Revolucion de Mayo”. This is a museum where you will find the best display of old weapons and also garments and medals from the time the country got independence in the year 1816. It is open to public from Tuesday to Friday and the timings  are between12.30 pm to 7 in the evening.  On Sundays you can visit the museum from 3 pm to 7 in the evening.

Casa Rosada

Also called the Pink House this is the government house. This building in Buenos Aires has the Executive Power. Constructed in the year 1580, this too underwent a lot of modifications and it was Francisco Tamburini, the Italian architect who helped in bringing it to what it looks today. The entire façade had to be rebuilt and the whole building got an Italian French appearance. During the time Domingo Faustino Sarmiento ruled, the building got a pink colour and this was with the idea of combining the red of the federals and the white of the unitaries thus producing a merged effect of pink. So the building is called the Casa Rosada or the Pink House. This building is guarded by the Grandaderos who are an elite army group.

Cathedral

Then you have the San Martin and Rivadavia cathedral which is a construction of the neo classical times. This was built sometime in the 18th century and is the place where the ashes of the Liberator General Jose de San Martin’s ashes are kept. San Martin was one of the most important Argentinian heroes. Most of the battles against the army of Spain was led by him and this contributed to the country’s independence. This is open to the public all days in the week.

Piramide de Mayo

This is also called the May Pyramid or the Plaza de Maya. Dating back to around 1811, on 25th May, this was the first Buenos Aires monument and has been built in memory of the 1810 revolution. The monument was covered with bricks later thus contributing to a size increase .Then a stature for the “Republic’ was added on the top. Sculptures depicting commerce, science, art and agriculture dominated the base. The original pyramide is inside, and is in perfect shape.

Plaza de Mayo

Called the May Park, this is a political hub of the county. Situated between Casa Rosada and the Cabildo, this is a place that has seen a lot of history, social demonstrations and political marches.

Avenida de Mayo

This is the May Avenue and has been the place where a lot of political rallies and marches are held.Constructed in the 19th century, there are beautiful buildings here and their domes show an elegance of the earlier art forms.

Tortoni Coffee House

Also known as Café Tortoni this is a lovely building which was constructed in the year 1858. It has one of the oldest literary cafes in Buenos Aires and is the place where you would get jazz and tango bands all night. Benito Quinquela Martin, Raul Gonzalez Tunon, Molina Campos are some of the artists who frequented here.

General Post office

This is a lovely French influenced building and was the brainchild of Nobert Maillar the French architect. It was inaugurated in the year 1928 and was recently renovated with the original equipment being used for the customer service and very precious vitreaux and sculptures of M.Fiot and M. Chirico are found here besides the paintings done by Loa Frexas and Bernaldode Quiros.
