Steven Spielberg, in his movie ‘Munich’ has tried his best to capture the emotions that underlie the entire event of the ‘Munich Massacre’.

What really happened back then?

The Summer Olympics were being hosted by Munich in 1972, when eleven Israeli athletes were taken hostage and murdered by a Palestinian terrorist group which was dubbed ‘Black September’. In retaliation, the Israeli government sent down a group of agents to track down these terrorists.

Munich is the capital city of Bavaria in Germany and is the third largest city in Germany. The city population is approximately 1.35 million, but including the other urban areas, there are almost 5 million people residing there.

The major tourist attraction in Munich, is the old town. Karlstor is a historic getaway to the “Old Town”. This place is ideal for shopping and the famous Bavarian food and beer. Neuhauserstrase is an impressive place where you can see an upper and a lower church. It is simply an amazing place.

Also, the oldest brewery in Munich which was establised in the 13th century is very famous here.

The Augustiner restaurant near the brewery is a fine place for good food and some excellent beer.

The German Hunting and fishing museum is also an important place.

The Frauenkirche is a very impressive Cathedral in Munich. This place is a must visit and attracts tourists from all round the world.
