Malta is an independent state within the republic of the British Commonwealth. The Malta island and the adjoining islands of Gozo, Comino, and the uninhabited rocky island of Cominotto are all an important tourist destination.

Malta is believed to follow a Christian legacy and is known to be an Apostolic See. Also, known for its “world heritage sites”, this place depicts some of the most prominent and the most famous Megalithic temples, which are known to be the “oldest free standing structures in Europe”.
Attractions in Malta
There are a number of places where you can visit in Malta.
Gozo is an island which is separated from Malta by a channel which is almost three to five km wide and is divided into two halves, one known as the North Comino Channel and the other as the South Comino Channel. The island of Gozo has limestone hills, and cliffs which are less formidable.
You can go in for scuba diving, and snorkeling here. Also, the craft centre or the marketplace is a major attraction in Gozo Island.
Senglea is another major tourist attraction in Malta. There is a Grand Harbor and houses “extensive docks and shipyards” at the Senglea and the Vittoriosa port towns.
There are some well known churches in the area among them, Our Lady of Victories being the famous one. On the tip of the promontory there is an old watch tower, and a relic of Fort St. Michael.
Valleta is another important tourist destination. There are some amazing places to visit in the area.
The National Museum of Archeology, St. John’s Co- Cathedral, Grand Master’s Palace and Courtyards, Auberge de Castle et Leon, Church of St. Paul the Shipwrecked, Upper Barracca Gardens and the English Curtain are some of the popular ones.
Xaghra is known as the place of the Giants. It houses the most famous Neolithic temple and is known as the Ggantija, which means “Place of the Giants”. This structure dates back to 3600 B.C. This place “boasts of the most enchanting village on the island and the twisty hairpin”, which leads upto the plateau.
