Solomon Islands: Archipelago of one thousand beautiful islands



Looking for an ideal destination? Check out the Solomon Islands. The islands have miraculous settings of nature, which entices every tourist to the fullest. The islands are actually a country of Oceania, which lies towards the east of Papua New Guinea and consist of approximately one thousand islands. The Solomon Islands cover a land mass of about 28,400 square kilometres and its capital city is Honiara, which lies on the island of Guadalcanal.

The islands of this archipelago is scattered across the southwestern Pacific. Due to the remote location, the islands are still preserved as an unspoilt gem and are considered among the most beautiful tourist destinations, along with the slowly developing tourist industry. Most of the tourists plan to visit the Solomon Islands for its spectacular marine life and the islands is a paradise for the divers. The main islands where you can visit and make your vacation memorable are:

When you are visiting these islands, do try to arrange some time for the capital city of Honiara, which lies on Guadalcanal. Honiara is worth a visit, as it has excellent museums, botanical gardens, and the beautiful Chinatown. From the capital city, you can easily get access to the villages and experience its scenic drives. Enjoy the well-known WWII battlefield tours and the carving villages of Rennell and Bellona islands. You have hundreds of things to do  in the islands, which you can try and have fun.

Honiara

  • Explore the 900 volcanic islands and the coral reefs that are spread across the blue tropical waters.
  • Amazing marine life in the islands will make your vacation superb. So enjoy swimming and cruising activities, as the islands are excellent destinations for such type of activities.
  • While enjoying your special time aside waters, try the diving activity. Most of the land-based diving can be found in the Western Province or close to the islands of Gizo, which is the capital of Western Province. In fact, this activity can also be best tried at New Georgia.
  • Some of the renowned diving sites include, Munda, Uepi Island, and the famous Marovo Lagoon. You can in fact, take a diving tour to various WWII wrecks.

  • Take an educational tour to the tropical rainforests, which cover a large area of the archipelago and most of the inactive volcanoes. Head to the ‘Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau’ for any related information.
  • The bushwalking and climbing activities are also popular in the Solomon Islands.

The wildlife on the islands of Solomon is of great interest. It consists of a number of introduced and indigenous species. Almost everywhere, you will experience various reptiles, including turtles. Marsupials like flying foxes, phalangers, and opossums are the common species, which you can see wandering.
