Switzerland is known as the summer and the winter paradise among all the countries in the world. It is a beautiful landlocked territory which is divided between the Alps, the Central Plateau, and the Jura. It has approximately 7.8 million people concentrated mostly on the Plateau, where most of the largest cities are to be found.

It houses some of the most important international organizations, the World Economic Forum, the International Olympic Committee, the Red Cross, The World Trade Organization (WTO), FIFA, and the second largest UN office. It is the dominion for three main linguistic and cultural regions, the Germans, French and the Italians.

This is the place where people first skied for fun! The snow capped peaks of the Alps are a perfect destination for those who love adventure sports. Also, mountain climbing, river rafting, and paragliding are some of the adventures that you can get your hands on!

There are some amazing cities, nestled in this small country that is a must to visit. You must have heard and seen these places in movies. Geneva, Zurich, Basel, and Lausanne are to name a few. You might find Johnny Depp hanging around in one of the nightclubs there! A favourite place for all your stars!

The extraordinary train ride awaits you. The Swiss train is very famous in the world, and personally, I feel that it is the best train ride ever. The Glacier Express train runs inbetween St. Moritz or Chur and the Zermatt. It is an unsurpassed rail ride through the Alps and some of Switzerland’s best scenic vistas. You can book your journey on the first class, though it’s going to pinch your pocket a bit, but it’s worth it! Meals are made available to you in the Dining Car and you can have a munch on your favourite snacks and drinks on the rail bar!! (Yes a rail bar sounds quite interesting!).

The Bernina Express runs between Chur and Tirano in Italy. It is a shorter ride as compared to the Glacier Express, but here you can enjoy yourself viewing the great Alps. This rail line is considered as an engineering marvel!

The Swiss Alps are the most beautiful mountains in the world. It is considered to be the “Top of Europe”. It is also considered to be the best heritage sites, according to UNESCO. Zermatt, Jungfrau, and Matterhorn are some of the places to be in. It is advised that you spend atleast a day in the Alps to experience this difference. This is one of the most famous amongst Switzerland places to visit.

If you are not a ‘person of the hills’, you need not worry, there are amazing places that will take your breath away on the plains. Zurich is a place to be in. It blends the old and the new in a manner which is seamless. The city has narrow winding streets and is a delightful and a compact place to tour. You must ride the city’s efficient streetcars to make your travel easy. They are inexpensive and are accessible all around in the city. The Old Town is an enjoyable place and you must devote some of your time to the Bahnhofstrasse shopping area, where you get amazing stuff. Also, you could explore some museums while your stay in Zurich.

Lucerne will surely make you feel that you’ve reached heaven, with its mountainous setting. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Switzerland. It has some of the best lakeside views and you must avail them while you are there. There are some great restaurants, and the Old Town is an interesting place to visit, explore, and shop. The Chapel Bridge, Water Tower, Wagner Museum, Picasso Museum, and the Rosengart Collection are some of the highlights of the city’s finest museums. This too is quite famous for Switzerland places to visit.

Interlaken is a place to be in. It is a wonderful city “between the lakes”. It offers some great scenery and villages to visit. It is an idyllic area to be in and shop.

Geneva is the home to many international organizations which bears the role of the cosmopolitan culture in the city. It has some great nightclubs and pubs and is a must for those who love to party all night!

Switzerland, is truly a great place to be in and it is worth the money! So treat yourself to the wonders of Switzerland. If you are going here, make sure you see all these Switzerland places to visit.
