Congo Brazzaville or the Congo is located in Central Africa; the country is bordered with Cameroon, Central African Republic, Angolan exclave, and Gulf of Guinea. Bantu tribes were the people who built the main links in the Congo River basin. It was a French colony after the independence in 1960 the French region of Middle Congo turned into Republic of Congo. It was a single party state led by Marxist-Leninist from the year 1970 to 1991, after the multi party elections in 1992 a democratic government was made after 1997 civil war. Pygmy people where the early inhabitants and disappeared when Bantu tribes came and made expansions. Angola, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo are still the areas of conflicts in case of ethnic and religion problems. In the 15th century the people of Congo River came in contact with Europeans from the African coastline and commercial relationships were made between the Europeans and Bantu kingdoms. The trading of manufactured goods, commodities, and slaves was carried on through Congo River which was the major commercial hub. The power of Bantu societies went fretted in the 19th century.
The Republic of Congo came under French rule in the year 1880. French Equatorial Africa including the colonies of Middle Congo, Chad etc was made by France in the year 1908. Brazzaville was declared as federal capital. Resource extraction was the major source of economic development during the first 50 years. The lowland gorillas and chimpanzees are well known in the Republic of Congo. It is also known for its dense rainforest and nascent oil industry. The beaches of Pointe- Noire and the white water of Congo River are amazing. The Odzala National Park is one of the largest tropical ecosystems. The wild life of Congo is huge while the tourism here is very less the conflicts here always scare tourists to enter in this country. The people of this country are the greatest assets which includes philosophers, cooks, musicians etc.
The best time to visit this place is from May to September in the capital and from December to February towards the north. The weather is reverse from the central to the north. The rainy season starts from October to May which is not the best time to visit the Republic of Congo.
How to reach Congo
There are many international airlines to Congo via Brazzaville’s MayaMaya Airport. Trans Air Congo has four flights a day to the costal town of Pointe-Noire. Ethiopian Airlines, Air France, Addis Abada etc are connected with major destinations of the world. If you want to reach here by car than drive safely from the sealed road goes to north from Brazzaville. Renting car will not be a good option here. Ferries are also available if you want to reach by sea route. The prices of the ferries are reasonable and are available in every two hours. Speed boats on hire are also available if you want to sail by your own. Congo-Ocean Railway links the Atlantic port with Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire. The cheap shared taxis and minibuses are available to get around in the country.

There are very few accommodations in Congo and are located in the capital. There is a single hotel in the town and few beach cottages in the nearby areas. The Congo cottage, Congo sea breeze, Time out in Congo etc is the few accommodations in Congo. Most of the accommodation is in the capital and in Kinshasa city.
